SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001--Object Design, a
division of eXcelon(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ:EXLN) of Burlington,
Mass., and Spectrum Software Inc. of Atlanta, jointly announced
today, here at JavaOne, that Object Design's PSE Pro for Java is
integrated into the SpectrumSCM (Source Configuration Management)
system (also announced today). PSE Pro is the embedded data caching
engine for SpectrumSCM which helps software developers manage
today's diverse software projects that often include millions of
lines of code and hundreds of developers around the world.
"We take a very disciplined approach to software project
management at Spectrum," said Sarathi Srinivasan, Spectrum
president. "With SpectrumSCM we wanted to create a next-generation,
100 percent Java, platform-portable SCM system that mirrors today's
worldwide, distributed approach to software development. PSE Pro
gives us an outstanding embedded data cache that answers all of our
requirements for persistence, performance and code management in a
distributed, pure-Java environment."
As a key embedded storage engine, PSE Pro for Java enables
SpectrumSCM to provide a single SCM development environment that
controls all versions of the code in real-time in a networked
repository. The PSE Pro architecture enables a distributed
application to deliver high degrees of performance and scalability.
This allows SpectrumSCM to support widely disbursed software
developers and give them instant access to the latest information
about code status in a closely controlled and monitored development
environment.
The PSE Pro for Java engine organizes SpectrumSCM's software
asset and value data to facilitate the management of code
development, version control, release management, process control
management and branching. As a persistent cache, PSE Pro also
enables the tracking, auditing and reporting of software development
activities, changes and updates.
"Spectrum has developed a distributed, platform independent tool
that is redefining the SCM market," commented Kenneth Rugg, Object
Design vice president of product development and chief technology
officer. "PSE Pro, as an embedded engine, takes care of caching and
data management transparently. This lets Spectrum developers
concentrate on the value-added aspects of SpectrumSCM which in turn
allows their customers to bring better products to market more
quickly, efficiently and cost effectively."
